MMR – in response to a measles outbreak across Greater Manchester, Bury GP Federation launched a proactive campaign to boost the MMR vaccination uptake across all age groups in Bury. This resulted in a 95% coverage: among the highest rates in Greater Manchester.
Nasal Flu – an initiative providing flu vaccines directly to children in nurseries has been welcomed by parents, carers and nursery staff. Improved access to nasal flu immunisation has revealed that more than 90% of the children vaccinated would have missed out on the vaccination without the targeted approach.
Covid – in 2019 the Federation established Covid vaccination hubs across Bury to support the local population and was instrumental in co-ordinating and supporting the vaccination roll-out. In 2021, 200,000 Covid-19 vaccinations were delivered via a team of more than 200 healthcare professionals from across all GP practices, plus volunteers, non-clinical staff and Bury GP Federation.
